DSIP dosage calculator

In a 5 mg vial with 2 mL of water (2.5 mg/mL), 100 mcg of DSIP is 4 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. DSIP is dosed in micrograms from a 5 mg vial. Enter the water you added to get the unit mark for your own number.

About DSIP

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide, emideltide) is a nine-amino-acid neuropeptide first isolated from rabbit brain in 1977. It is not approved as a medicine and is sold for research use. Small human sleep studies in the 1980s and 1990s were mixed and have not been replicated in large modern trials.

There is no approved dose. The one human trial that states its dose gave 25 nmol/kg intravenously, about 21 mcg per kg, and found only weak effects; that was weight-based and intravenous, so it cannot be read across to a subcutaneous dose. The 100 to 300 mcg subcutaneous range people quote is community-reported and has no trial behind it. A 5 mg vial with 2 mL of water is 2,500 mcg/mL, so 100 mcg is 0.04 mL, or 4 units. The calculator converts a dose you choose into a syringe mark; it does not suggest one.

The same 5 mg vial at other water volumes

If the draw is awkward to read, change the water, not the dose. The dose stays the same; only the mark moves.

All rows above assume a 100 mcg dose and a standard U-100 insulin syringe, where 100 units = 1 mL.

How long it lasts in the body

Very short in plasma, on the order of minutes. A decay curve is only drawn where a human half-life is documented, so there is none here. Treat any precise figure for DSIP elsewhere with caution.

Common questions

How many units is 100 mcg of DSIP?
It depends entirely on how much water you added. In a 5 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL, the concentration is 2.5 mg/mL, so 100 mcg is 0.04 mL, which is 4 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. In the same vial with 1 mL of water it is 2 units, and with 3 mL it is 6 units.
How much bacteriostatic water for a 5 mg DSIP vial?
2 mL is the usual choice. It gives 2.5 mg/mL, which puts the commonly reported range of 100 mcg to 300 mcg between roughly 4 and 12 units. Aim for a draw between about 10 and 50 units, where the barrel is easiest to read, and add or remove water to get there.
How many doses are in a 5 mg vial?
Divide 5 by your dose. At 100 mcg that is 50 doses, which at once daily is 50 days.
How many units is 100 mcg of DSIP?
In a 5 mg vial with 2 mL of water, 4 units on a U-100 syringe. With 1 mL of water it is 2 units, which is hard to read, and with 4 mL it is 8 units.
Is there an established DSIP dose?
No. The one human trial that states its dose used 25 nmol/kg intravenously (about 21 mcg/kg) and found weak effects. The 100 to 300 mcg subcutaneous range is community-reported with no trial behind it.

Before you use these numbers This is a unit-conversion tool. It turns a vial strength and a water volume into a concentration, a draw volume and a syringe mark. It does not tell you what to take, whether to take it, or whether a compound is safe for you. Most compounds listed are sold for laboratory research and are not approved for human use. Nothing here is medical advice. Dosing decisions belong with a licensed clinician who knows your history. Always check the strength printed on your own vial rather than trusting a preset.
